The Governance Committee is responsible for ensuring that the Divorce Coaches Association of Ontario (DCAO) operates with strong governance, transparency and accountability in alignment with its by-laws, policies and Code of Ethics. The Committee oversees the development, review and implementation of governance frameworks including Board policies, ethical standards, and compliance with applicable legislation. It supports the Board of Directors in fulfilling its fiduciaryduties and promotes best practices in governance. The Committee also provides guidance on Board structure, roles and responsibilities and ongoing governance education to ensure effective and responsible leadership within DCAO.
The Finance Committee is responsible for overseeing the financial management and fiscal health of the Divorce Coaches Association of Ontario (DCAO) in alignment with its by-laws, policies and strategic objectives. The Committee ensures financial transparency, accountability and sustainability through the development, review and monitoring of budgets, financial reports and internal financial controls. The Committee oversees the preparation of annual budgets and provides regular financial updates and recommendations to the Board of Directors to support informed decision-making. It monitors revenues, expenses, and financial risks to ensure the organization operates in a financially responsible manner. The Committee also ensures compliance with applicable financial regulations, reporting requirements and audit processes. It supports the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary duties by promoting sound financial practices and long-term financial planning. In addition, the Committee provides guidance on financial policies, investment strategies (if applicable) and resource allocation to ensure the continued stability and growth of DCAO.
The purpose of the Public Awareness Committee is to increase public understanding of the value of Divorce Coaching and other constructive dispute resolution supports. Through education, outreach and collaboration with professionals working in marriage, separation, divorce, and family transition, the Committee helps Ontario families make informed choices and access appropriate resources earlier in their separation or divorce journey. In doing so, the Committee supports families in reducing cost, conflict, and emotional harm, and in moving through separation with greater clarity, dignity, and emotional resilience.
The Professional Outreach Committee is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with professionals who work in the areas of marriage, separation, divorce and family transition. The Committee serves as a bridge between practitioners from various disciplines to promote collaboration, information sharing, referral opportunities, and ongoing professional development. The Committee actively engages with lawyers, paralegals, law clerks, mediators, arbitrators, mental health professionals, social workers, psychologists, teachers, parenting coordinators, parenting assessors, life coaches, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, financial advisors, and other professionals whose services support individuals and families experiencing separation, divorce, or the breakdown of common-law relationships. Through these efforts, the Committee seeks to ensure that clients navigating separation and divorce receive the highest quality of professional service from qualified specialists who can work collaboratively to address legal, financial, emotional, parenting, and practical concerns.
